In the South African newspapers today, 7 November 2011 - The question about Dignity
It seems that "dignity" or the lack thereof in South Africa are being questioned on a number of levels. The first, is asking the question how do we treat the dead? The Star's front page ran with a heart breaking story about  a two year old toddler, Eric Ncube's, body that was left out in the streets for 5 hours before it was removed by the State Mortuary. Reason? According to The Star, lack of resources and faulty ambulances.

The second, is looking at the Minister of Sport, Mr Mbalula, and his affairs. Media Monitoring evaluated the coverage it received and asked the question Mbalula vs the media: privacy, dignity vs public interest. Does it mean because you are in a public position that the public should be informed about all your private actions? There is a strong feeling amongst South Africans that civil servants has lost direction, that they forgot that they are there to serve the community and lead by example and are accountable for their actions!
